Director James Gunn Confirms ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3’ Has Begun Filming. One of the most anticipated movies of 2023 has begun filming! James Gunn shared to social media that the third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise began principal photography on Monday, November 8th. Gunn’s post read:
“It’s been a strange & long & at times challenging journey to get here, but the obstacles along the way have only made this moment more blissful. Back on set with my Guardians family for the first day of shooting #GotGVol3“

Despite the theatrical release delays for other Marvel films such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder, the famed director previously confirmed that the release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has yet to change and is still slotted to premiere exclusively in theaters on May 5, 2023.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will star Chris Pratt (Peter Quill / Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Dave Bautista (Drax), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Sean Gunn (Kraglin/Mo-Cap Rocket), Elizabeth Debicki (Ayesha) and Will Poulter (Adam Warlock).
