Could a Former Spider-Man Return to the MCU in 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness'?

Marvel fans were blown away at the return of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and it seems we may get to see more of the multiverse Spider-Men. A teasing post from Marvel Portuguese dub voice actors Marianna Torres and Manolo Rey shares a notable detail that may spoil a big surprise for fans.

For those who do not know, Marianna Torres dubs the voice of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Manolo Rey dubs the voice for Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man and the pair shared a seemingly innocent photo together on Marianna’s Instagram.

Now, why would these two be working together, unless they are both working on another Marvel project? A translation of the post provided by Twitter reads: “Mariana Torres (Wanda’s official voice in Portuguese) a few days ago uploaded a story to her IG together with Manolo Rey (Tobey Maguire’s official voice in Portuguese) with the message: “Good things are coming!!!”

Though this is merely an assumption at the time of writing and no official statements have been made by Marvel Studios, it appears that Manolo’s involvement means we will get to see Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Doctor Strange sequel! Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness went under intense reshoots at the end of 2021 and beginning of 2022, and to help maintain the secrets of No Way Home, it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that Maguire was a big reason for the reshoots.

Do you think this theory has merit? What other “variants” do you think will appear in Multiverse of Madness? We would love to hear your theories and suggestions in the comments. This is a developing story, so be sure to check back here at Chip and Company for updates and all things Marvel!
