Epilepsy Awareness Day is coming to the Disneyland Resort in California, and you’re invited to participate!
November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month, and you can participate in the celebration of Epilepsy Awareness Day at Disneyland California from November 5 through November 7. Join others at the Sixth Annual Epilepsy Awareness Day event (EADDL), and be a part of more than 2,000 participants who will walk into Disneyland Park together–each clad in a signature EADDL purple shirt.
Enjoy a fun-filled day of Disney magic, and visit the informative Epilepsy Education Expo while you’re there. Learn more about Epilepsy and its affects on the central nervous system (CNS). Discover how research is advancing the treatments available to patients living with this disorder.
EADDL began with a little girl named Sofie Levy and her family. At the young age of 5, Sofie began experiencing seizures. She was diagnosed with Epilepsy, and later proved to be a good candidate for brain surgery. Today, Sofie has been seizure-free for more than nine years. She recently graduated from high school and is pursuing her life’s dream of becoming an EEG technician. As an EEG technician, Sofie will be able to help patients by performing a test called an electroencephalogram, or EEG, which records electrical activity in the brain. EEGs are performed as requested by physicians and are used in diagnosing Epilepsy and sleep disorders.
EADDL began as an expression of thankfulness by the Levy family for the seizure-free years Sofie is enjoying. It also exists to further awareness about Epilepsy for people living with the disorder, as well as for their families and those in the communities around them.
