Ducks fly together! No, not those Mighty Ducks, the Ducks of Anaheim. Fans will be coming out to Disney’s California Adventure for Anaheim Ducks Day! Monday, February 11th, Disney will host special events throughout the park to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the team, founded in 1993. Here’s a look at what’s in store:
Fan Headquarters, Stage 17 – 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Stage 17 will host a selection of Ducks hockey memorabilia. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the team, jerseys, sticks, helmets, and trophies will be on display for fans. You can even take photos with special guest “Wild Wing”, the team mascot. While you’re there, show off some hockey skills of your own with air and table hockey setups.
Event Merchandise, Stage 17 – 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Also available at Stage 17 is special 25th-anniversary merchandise. Pick up limited edition prints, pins, hockey pucks, and apparel for fans big and small.
Anaheim Ducks “Through The Years,” Sunset Showcase Theater – 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Take a look back at some of the most memorable moments of the last 25 seasons with a short film. The film features highlights from the 2003 conference championship, and the 2007 Stanley Cup win. Also see footage of jersey retirements and interviews from all-star Ducks Teemu Selanne, and Paul Kariya.
Meet & Greet with Players and Alumni, Stage 12 – 2:15, 3:15, 4:15 pm
Meet some of your favorite players as team members meet fans for a photo-op. Wristbands for this event will be distributed in the Hollywood Backlot area and guests are encouraged to enter the queue at park opening as experiences are limited.
Cavalcade, Hollywood Land – 1:15 p.m.
Hollywood Boulevard and Buena Vista Street will host to a special cavalcade of players from then and now.
In addition to all of those fun activities, there’s even more to enjoy! A limited amount of goodies celebrating the 25th anniversary will be available. Get to Trolly Treats for an orange cream “puck”, hockey puck brownies at Schmoozies and Duck-inspired macaron at Studio Catering Co.
Animation Academy is also getting in on the act. Guests are invited to visit and learn to draw your favorite Disney Ducks! The best part is keeping your art as a souvenir.
It’s fitting for the team, that was originally named the Mighty Ducks and owned by the Walt Disney Company, to celebrate in Disney’s California Adventure. The team’s Silver Celebration will take place all week long in Anaheim (Feb 10-17). Other events include a screening of the Mighty Ducks Movie, a fundraising event, and Scott Niedermayer’s jersey retirement celebration.
