Mark your calendars! “Frozen,” the hit Broadway musical, is headed down under! Anna and Elsa are leaving their ice palace and traveling to Sydney, Australia. The premiere of “Frozen” the musical is scheduled for July 2020 at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre.
“Frozen” the musical hit the stage in 2017 and has left audiences raving ever since. If you liked the 2013 film from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Frozen” the musical gives you more of the Arendelle sisters. Similar to the movie, Elsa’s magical powers endanger those around her and she leaves town, causing eternal winter. Anna goes on a mission to find her sister, and the two are ultimately reunited. They save their town and rekindle their relationship.
“Frozen” the musical has grossed approximately $2 million a week since March 2018. It was nominated for Best Musical at the 2018 Tony Awards. “It is a global cultural sensation, and we are thrilled to have secured the musical adaptation for Sydney,” New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian said, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
In other Frozen news, “Frozen 2,” the sequel hits theaters in November 2019. This will definitely increase the interest in the Australian musical, bringing a new set of young fans to love the ice sisters!
