Cara Dune is NOT Expected to be Recast After Gina Carano Firing. Merely minutes after the news that Gina Carano was fired from Lucasfilm and dropped by UTA Talent Agency Star Wars fans began sharing their recast choices online for the fan favorite role of Cara Dune in The Mandalorian and upcoming spin-off series.
Lead fan castings included actresses such as Lana Parrilla, Lucy Lawless, and wrestler Sonya Deville, but sadly Lucasfilm has announced there are no plans to recast the role for The Mandalorian or any other Star Wars projects down the line. Gina’s action also led to Hasbro cancelling the production of Cara Dune based merchandise including iconic Star Wars action figures.
Lucasfilm’s original statement regarding Carano’s firing “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Lucasfilm has not shared how they plan to have Cara Dune exit The Mandalorian series and is restructuring the upcoming series, Rangers of the New Republic which would have been co-led by Carano.
