Former Buzz Lightyear Meet & Greet Receives Fresh Look

Changes are quietly continuing across Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom! A former character meet-and-greet spot has officially debuted a brand-new look—swapping out dedicated Toy Story details for a streamlined galactic aesthetic.

Located directly underneath the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover track (and adjacent to the exit of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin), this space was originally best known as Buzz Lightyear’s primary greeting area.

While the space has seen various characters drop by in recent years, the visual backdrop has now undergone a noticeable refresh:

• Futuristic Window View: The former toy-inspired paneling has been replaced with a large window-style graphic depicting planets, stars, and deep space.
• Streamlined Accents: The surrounding metallic frame and columns have received a fresh coat of bright blue trim.
• Detail Removals: The faux 3D button decals and the battery-themed floor tiles from the original Buzz Lightyear design have both been removed in favor of a cleaner metallic finish.

Interestingly, the overhead LED sign above the backdrop currently still reads “Space Ranger Map,” keeping a subtle nod to Star Command intact for now.

Buzz Lightyear hasn’t met regularly in this specific cutout spot for some time (often appearing on the nearby Tomorrowland stage or roaming the land instead).

Instead, this nook—along with the adjacent silver garage door location—frequently hosts friends like Stitch as well as Chip ‘n’ Dale in their sci-fi gear. The updated, broader space theme allows the location to feel far more versatile for whichever intergalactic characters pop in throughout the day.
