Bourbon Steak at Walt Disney World Dolphin Remains Closed Following Kitchen Fire

Guests hoping to dine at Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina during an upcoming Walt Disney World vacation will need to make other plans. The signature steakhouse at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel remains closed nearly a month after a kitchen fire, and hotel officials say it will stay that way for the foreseeable future while repairs are completed.

The fire occurred on June 25, prompting the evacuation of Bourbon Steak and portions of the Dolphin Hotel. At the time, Disney confirmed the fire was contained to the restaurant, noting that while photos showed a significant amount of smoke, the building’s ventilation system was doing exactly what it was designed to do by pushing smoke outside. No damage was reported to the hotel itself.

Guests with existing reservations are now receiving emails from the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort informing them that Bourbon Steak is temporarily unavailable and assisting them with reservations at one of the resort’s many other dining locations. The resort’s website also advises guests that the restaurant is temporarily closed, encouraging visitors to enjoy one of its other 22 dining venues, including bluezoo, Il Mulino Trattoria, Kimonos, Amare, and Rosa Mexicano while repairs continue.

Although the restaurant’s website promises it is “Temporarily Closed, Reopening Soon,” reservations are currently unavailable until at least September 16, suggesting that is the earliest possible reopening window. Of course, that date could change depending on the progress of repairs.

Bourbon Steak opened just last year, replacing the longtime Shula’s Steak House at the Dolphin Hotel. The upscale restaurant quickly became known for its premium steaks, seafood, caviar, and elevated takes on classic steakhouse favorites, making its temporary closure a disappointment for guests with upcoming dining plans.
