First Ride Scene Begins Taking Shape on Monsters, Inc. Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The laugh floor is getting a whole lot taller! New aerial photos from bioreconstruct reveal exciting progress on the upcoming Monsters, Inc. suspended roller coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and fans can finally begin to see what appears to be the attraction’s first major show scene taking shape.

The newest construction images show a massive steel structure rising from the enormous show building, with one particularly tall section believed to house the opening moments of the attraction. This is where guests are expected to board their suspended, door-themed ride vehicles before ascending into the iconic door vault made famous in Pixar’s Monsters, Inc.

The intricate web of steel gives an early glimpse at just how ambitious the attraction will be. Disney has already confirmed riders will travel beneath the track, making this the company’s first suspended roller coaster. The attraction is expected to recreate the thrilling finale of the film as guests race through towering racks filled with thousands of children’s bedroom doors.

Construction is also moving quickly throughout the rest of the building. Steel floor decking is already covering portions of the structure, meaning many of the coaster’s support systems and track will soon disappear from view as additional floors, walls, and themed elements are added. Separate track levels are already visible, hinting at a layout that will weave above and below itself throughout the attraction.

Elsewhere around the site, new foundations and utility work appear to mark future queue, maintenance, and gift shop areas as crews continue building out the massive complex.
