Marvel Star Benedict Cumberbatch to Star in New Netflix Series
The Sorcerer Supreme is conjuring up his next project over at Netflix. According to Variety, Benedict Cumberbatch is in talks with Netflix for a new limited series, “Eric.” This limited series was initially announced by Netflix in November 2021.
Cumberbatch could play the role of Vincent Sullivan in this six-episode limited series. Set in 1980’s New York City, ‘Eric’ follows the life of a puppeteer and children’s show host whose life begins to unravel following his son’s disappearance. Homeless and dealing with addiction, Vincent finds companionship in a blue puppet named Eric, who leads him on a journey to find his son.
Eric is written and executive produced by The Hour‘s Abi Morgan. The End of the F***ing World‘s Lucy Forbes is set to direct.
Netflix declined to comment when asked to confirm casting rumors for the upcoming show. Cumberbatch is no stranger to the small screen, having played several limited series roles throughout his career. The English actor is well known for his roles in film, television, and theater.

Cumberbatch began his acting career in the early 2000s, appearing in various television shows and films. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Stephen Hawking in the BBC television film “Hawking” (2004). In the following years, he appeared in a number of critically acclaimed films, including “Atonement” (2007), “The Imitation Game” (2014), and “Doctor Strange” (2016).
In addition to his film work, Cumberbatch is known for his stage roles. He has appeared in a number of productions at the National Theatre in London, including “Hamlet” (2015), for which he received widespread praise.
Cumberbatch is known for his versatility as an actor and has won numerous awards for his performances. He has been nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards, winning once for his performance in “Sherlock” (2014). He has also been nominated for a Tony Award for his work in the stage production of “Frankenstein” (2011).
