A Third ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Project Without Johnny Depp Could Be Coming to Disney+. Disney had previously announced a 6th Pirates of the Caribbean film, an additional spin-off franchise film featuring Margot Robbie in a leading role, and now reports are surfacing that a potential third film is currently in development for Disney+.

It should be noted that Disney has previously shared that there are active plans to expand the franchise without leading man Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, and some rumblings have indicated that due to the high demand from fans for his return the entertainment conglomerate may be reconsidering the decision to part ways with the Disney Legend.
Rumors also swirled that Zac Efron had been approached about playing a younger version of the character and replacing Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. If the rumors prove to be true, it is unclear if Efron would be featured in either of the two anticipated theatrical release movies or for the reported third film coming to Disney+.

Disney has not confirmed the news of a third film or an exclusive Disney+ release for a Pirates movie in the works. There is also a chance one of the two previously announced projects could be this same project in question, so be sure to check back here at Chip and Company for updates and all things Disney!
