Marvel Fans were a bit shocked and surprised that Clint Barton’s family was not as innocent as originally presented since their first appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the new Hawkeye series we got more time with Clint’s wife Laura Barton and learned that there was definitely more to the seemling innocent house wife.

At the end of the series, Clint gives Laura the retrieved Rolex watch that was stolen by the Tracksuit Mafia in Episode 1 from the secret auction. We knew the watch had been found and smuggled out of the Avengers Compound after the battle with Thanos and his army. As it turns out, the watch belonged to Agent 19, aka Mockingbird, aka Laura!

Many fans had this theory about Clint’s wife going into the series, and though some fans may be concerned this means Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may now be considered non-canon due to the appearance of Bobbi Morse as Agent 19 others are convinced that when Laura retired from S.H.I.E.L.D. she may have trained and passed on the moniker to Bobbi who continued the legacy.

This theory also ties into the conversation between Laura and Clint in Episode 5 where she explains that “she of all people” would understand what Clint was planning on doing and didn’t need her permission, IF he was actually referring to passing on the role of Hawkeye to Kate Bishop, instead of the implied meaning that he may just be taking care of business and may or may not make it out alive. Until we get any confirmations from Marvel, this is strictly a fan theory, but is a much sweeter sentiment knowing that they may have just been discussing Clint’s replacement rather than his potential death.
