Vacation Fun Fails to Reopen as Scheduled at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Mickey and Minnie’s vacation has apparently been extended. Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie did not reopen at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on September 27 as previously expected, leaving the Mickey Shorts Theater dark following its recent stint as an Annual Passholder magnet distribution location.

The theater had been unavailable for its regular show for roughly six weeks while Walt Disney World used the space to distribute the Kermit Annual Passholder magnet. That giveaway ran from August 11 through September 24, and operating hours for Vacation Fun returned to Disney’s schedule beginning September 27, pointing to the animated short finally welcoming guests back.
That did not happen Sunday. A sign remained posted outside the Mickey Shorts Theater stating, “Vacation Fun. Sorry no shows today.” The theater’s exit doors were also closed, keeping guests from accessing the themed photo opportunities inside the exit area, including the popular Potatoland setup.
Vacation Fun debuted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2020 and features Mickey and Minnie looking back at some of their favorite vacation memories. The presentation combines original animation created for the attraction with scenes from several Mickey Mouse animated shorts, including “Panda-monium,” “Couples Sweaters,” “Potatoland,” “Croissant de Triomphe,” “Entombed,” “Dumb Luck,” “Al Rojo Vivo,” “Yodelburg,” and “Outback at Ya!”

Disney has not announced a new reopening date for Vacation Fun. With the Annual Passholder magnet distribution now complete and operating hours having previously appeared for the attraction, we’ll be watching to see when Mickey and Minnie finally return from their unexpectedly long vacation.
