Oogie Boogie & ‘Once Upon a Time’ Arrive in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Things are about to get spooky in the Valley! Gameloft has officially detailed the upcoming Season of Scares update for Disney Dreamlight Valley, launching on September 23, 2026.
Packed with six weeks of Halloween-themed quests, sinister rewards, major quality-of-life improvements, and television crossovers, this seasonal event is shaping up to be one of the biggest updates of the year.
The centerpiece of the update is none other than The Nightmare Before Christmas villain Oogie Boogie, who is bringing a brand-new quest mechanic to the game.
Starting September 23, a mysterious mirror will appear inside Scrooge McDuck’s Store. Stepping through the mirror transports players directly into Oogie Boogie’s Lair, kicking off a six-week series of weekly challenges:
- Weekly Unlocks: New quests and mini-games will unlock each week through October 28.
- Unlockable Villager & Companion: Completing the questline lets players permanently welcome Oogie Boogie as a new Villager, while Jack Skellington’s loyal ghost pup, Zero, can be unlocked as a pet companion.
- Flexible Timeline: You do not need to finish all challenges immediately. As long as you log in and start the first quest before November 4, you can complete the remaining tasks at your own pace to earn Oogie Boogie and Zero.
For the first time ever, Disney Dreamlight Valley is introducing content inspired by the live-action ABC series Once Upon a Time. Players will be able to unlock a special Little Red Riding Hood outfit paired with a matching wolf companion directly referencing the fantasy show.
Alongside the new story content, the update debuts the Haunting Elegance Star Path, filled with dark, whimsical furniture, bewitching outfits, and Halloween decorations. The Premium Shop will also see new additions, including a Vampire Costume Dream Style for Stitch and Lucifer (from Cinderella) as a pet companion.
Beyond the seasonal festivities, Gameloft is rolling out long-awaited decorating and system upgrades:
- Scrooge McDuck’s Store Remodel: The flagship shop gets its first full overhaul since the game launched.
- Biome Clearing Tool: Players can now clear an entire biome’s furniture and decor at once rather than removing items piece-by-piece.
- Preset Sharing: Share and exchange decorated layout codes with other players.
- Emote Wheel & Event Board: A new emote wheel lets players pose and communicate with Villagers, while an Event Board helps track up to three live events simultaneously.
