Disney Imagineering Recruits Elite Outside Design Firm for Massive Carousel of Progress Overhaul
The highly anticipated overhaul of Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is moving forward with some serious reinforcement. Following the recent closure of the classic Magic Kingdom attraction for a major reimagining, Walt Disney Imagineering has officially filed a new Notice of Commencement for general construction on the pavilion, and the paperwork reveals a massive outside partnership.

Disney has officially hired Mecca Productions to help bring the new vision of the show to life. According to the company, Mecca Productions is a highly respected full-service design, fabrication, and installation firm that specializes in building props and scenery for the world’s most notable themed entertainment venues.
Theme park fans are already incredibly familiar with this team’s work, even if they do not realize it. Mecca Productions is the same elite fabrication studio behind the recently debuted Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as the new Toy Story Land snack kiosk. The company has also been tapped for the upcoming Indiana Jones and Encanto attractions slated for Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

This new filing is just one piece of the puzzle as the classic Tomorrowland attraction gets ready for its next great big beautiful tomorrow. Additional permits show that Imagineering has also contracted outside specialists like Icarus Exhibits and ThemeWorks to assist with the installation of the brand-new sets, alongside Southeastern Construction and Maintenance for structural steel fabrication.
The extensive project will completely modernize the legendary show by shifting the timeline forward into a new era and introducing an all-new Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic figure to open the experience. With a powerhouse lineup of theme park builders and scenic design firms now officially locked in, the massive transformation is full steam ahead.
