The Mandalorian and Grogu Have Taken Over Alaska Airlines’ Star Wars Plane

This is the way… to board your flight. Alaska Airlines’ famous Star Wars-themed aircraft just received a fresh update featuring Din Djarin and Grogu ahead of the release of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu and the new Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run mission arriving at Disney Parks on May 22.

Disney Parks shared new photos of the updated aircraft, a Boeing 737-800 originally unveiled in 2022 as the “Star Wars Transport to the Disneyland Resort.” The jet already featured a sleek black Star Wars-inspired livery complete with the Millennium Falcon, TIE fighters, porgs, and Galaxy’s Edge artwork, but now Mando and Grogu have officially joined the crew.

The newest addition is a large promotional decal near the boarding door showing the Mandalorian holding Grogu alongside the logo for The Mandalorian and Grogu. Above the aircraft entryway, guests can also spot “Welcome Aboard” written in Aurebesh-style lettering next to Disneyland Resort and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge branding.

Inside the cabin, Alaska Airlines leaned fully into the galaxy far, far away theme. Photos show Grogu ear headbands draped across headrests alongside themed merchandise bags and hats waiting at seats for guests. Honestly, there are probably adults fighting over those Grogu ears harder than the overhead bin space.

The aircraft refresh arrives just as Disney prepares to launch a new Smugglers Run mission at both Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The updated attraction will allow guests to visit locations like Bespin, Coruscant, and the wreckage of the second Death Star near Endor. Even better, engineers aboard the Millennium Falcon will now be able to interact with Grogu during the mission.

Disney also shared photos of the Mandalorian and Grogu meeting guests during a promotional event tied to the updated aircraft and upcoming film release. Grogu remained tucked safely in his satchel while Din Djarin posed with fans in full beskar armor.

Alaska Airlines has built quite the fleet of Disney-inspired aircraft over the years. In addition to the Star Wars jet, the airline previously launched a Pixar-themed plane promoting Pixar Pier and last year unveiled the “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Flyer,” featuring Princess Tiana and friends from the reimagined attraction.

At this point, Alaska Airlines is basically running the most magical fleet in the skies. Somewhere out there, a plain white airplane is feeling very left out.
