Orlando International Airport Gives the Green Light to Major Parking Garage Expansions

If you have ever circled Orlando International Airport like you were stuck on the PeopleMover with no exit in sight, relief is on the horizon. The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority has officially approved two major parking garage expansion projects at Orlando International Airport, also known as MCO, setting the stage for a big boost in parking capacity over the next several years. The projects include expansions to the Terminal A Garage and the Rental Car facility, along with a brand new Terminal C Garage and Rental Car expansion, all designed to keep up with Orlando’s ever-growing travel demand.

Together, these projects aim to add approximately 8,000 new public parking spaces by 2030. As part of the changes, about 1,500 spaces in the Terminal Top Parking Garage are being converted into Reserved Parking, allowing travelers to lock in a spot before they even arrive at the airport. MCO is also rolling out a new Parking Guidance System across all existing garages, a $13.9 million phased project that will provide real-time parking availability on FlyMCO.com, the MCO app, and digital signage throughout the airport roadways and garages.

The system is expected to go live in Garage C in early 2026, with Garage A, Garage B, and the Terminal Top Garage following through summer 2027, and it will also be installed in the expanded and newly built garages.

These parking upgrades are just one piece of a much larger improvement plan at MCO. Other projects include baggage handling upgrades, new and improved gate areas, refreshed restrooms and seating spaces, expanded retail and dining options, and new technology aimed at smoothing out the overall airport experience. While a previously proposed consolidated rental car facility was removed to focus on faster and more cost-effective improvements, airport officials say alternative options are still being explored. Translation for Disney and Universal travelers alike: fewer laps around the garage and more time planning rope drop.
