Orlando International Airport Rises to Seventh Busiest in the United States
Orlando International Airport is flying higher in the national rankings after being named the seventh busiest airport in the United States for 2025. MCO welcomed 57,675,573 passengers during the year, marking a 0.8% increase over 2024 and moving the airport up two spots from its previous ninth-place ranking.

The new figures come from Airports Council International–North America, which tracks passenger traffic, cargo volume, and aircraft movements at airports across the United States and Canada. Orlando landed just behind major travel hubs including Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. MCO also finished ahead of Miami, Las Vegas, and San Francisco.
Orlando’s growth stands out because overall passenger traffic across the country declined by 0.7% during 2025. Florida welcomed a record 143.3 million visitors during the year, helping keep Central Florida’s tourism engine running at cruising altitude. Greater Orlando Aviation Authority CEO Lance Lyttle said the numbers reflect the region’s continued growth and worldwide appeal.

MCO is also in the middle of a major transformation aimed at keeping up with growing demand. Projects include renamed terminals, additional public parking, updates to longtime airport features, and the development of a future vertistop. With millions of travelers flying in for Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, and everything else Central Florida has to offer, Orlando’s airport is clearly earning its wings.
