Disneyland officially files permits for a massive “Eastern Gateway” parking structure

The future of the Disneyland Resort is officially taking shape! Two massive permits have been filed for the highly-anticipated 3.2 million-square-foot east parking structure. This monumental project serves as a cornerstone of the DisneylandForward expansion—a multi-billion dollar vision that was first teased in 2023 and officially greenlit earlier this year!

If this plan sounds familiar, that’s because it’s a spiritual successor to the 2016 ‘Eastern Gateway’ project that was eventually shelved in favor of the Pixar Pals structure. Now, the vision is finally coming to life at 1585 S Manchester Ave! Currently a Cast Member lot, this site is set to transform into a massive new gateway for the resort. Guests can look forward to a brand-new pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard, leading straight into a reimagined esplanade arrival experience.

This massive hub is designed to handle the crowds of the future, boasting 6,000 parking spaces alongside dedicated zones for shuttles and ride-sharing. With a streamlined security area and a new traffic entrance off Disney Way, your arrival will be smoother than ever! Construction is slated to kick off in Fall 2026, perfectly timed to welcome guests for the upcoming Avatar-themed land and the highly anticipated expansion of Avengers Campus!
