Disney Cruise Line Adding new Construction Jobs for Lighthouse Point
Disney Cruise Line will soon be developing a second private island in the Bahamas. It was recently revealed the cruise line will more than double the number of construction jobs on the Lighthouse Point development.
The project is set to open in 2024 and will cost $400 million. Disney has not asked for any additional concessions for the project.

Disney Cruise Line’s Regional Public Affairs Director for The Bahamas and Caribbean, Joey Gaskins, shared more about the development. “We are actually looking at 300 construction jobs, more than double what we had promised,” Gaskins said.

Originally, Disney Cruise Line had promised 120 construction jobs with an overall ratio of 80 percent Bahamians over the construction period. 150 permanent jobs for Bahamians will also be created with this development.
A large amount of Disney’s investment in the project will be directed towards ensuring that the environment is not destroyed but rather protected. Gaskin said, “We are donating 190 acres plus the 2.5 acres at the southern $150,000 in business grants for Eleuthera businesses.”
Lighthouse Point will be Disney Cruise Line’s second private island. Currently, guests sailing to the Bahamas and Caribbean with Disney Cruise Line can stop at Disney’s other private island, Castaway Cay.
