Disney’s Animal Kingdom doesn’t get nearly enough credit for the fantastic entertainment options it offers. I’ve always been a fan of its live shows like “Festival of the Lion King” and “Finding Nemo The Musical.” Big changes have been made in the last couple of years, and great new things are on the horizon. Check out some of the exciting things coming to Animal Kingdom!

“Disney KiteTails” recently debuted as part of the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration. Watch classic Disney characters take to the skies in kite form in a celebration filled with music and color. Some of the kites are as large as 30 feet long! See friends like Simba, Baloo, and others. And now, you will be able to experience “Disney KiteTails” from anywhere around the Discovery River Lagoon, thanks to shorter and more frequent performances throughout the day.

Character Flotillas are another can’t-miss entertainment experience. Whether you’re a kid or adult, you will love seeing your favorite characters riding high-energy boats down the river! With music and EARidescent 50th anniversary moments, each sighting is a party! Characters you might spot include Mickey and friends, Timon, Rafiki, and Pocahontas. They’ll be coming through several times each day so you can see them all!

Another exciting update is the high-flying Tumble Monkeys returning to the “Festival of the Lion King.” These are some popular primates and they’ve been greatly missed in the last couple of years!
Little guests will be enthralled to learn that Mickey & Minnie are coming back to Adventurers Outpost for Meet-and-Greets at an undisclosed (but fast approaching) future date. I know I’ve missed them! A newly updated “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond” will also be coming in the next few months. The original was one of my favorite productions at Walt Disney World, so it will be delightful to see what happens in the reopened version!
Keep checking back for the latest news on all these Animal Kingdom entertainment updates!
