First and foremost, I want to encourage Marvel fans to go see Black Widow in theaters if they feel comfortable doing so. The theatrical experience is one of the best parts of any Marvel premiere and you are NOT going to want to miss this opportunity to see the action unfold in theaters. That being said, we completely understand that many fans will want to view Black Widow from home and we love that idea too! Personally, we will be seeing the film again in theaters for the premiere on July 9th AND getting Disney+ Premier Access so we can keep enjoying the movie over and over again from the comfort of our home, and long story short, Black Widow was THAT good.

Black Widow more than beat our expectations, it introduced us to a new cast of characters that stand on their own, despite living in the shadows of the MCU so far. Florence Pugh and Scarlett Johansson give a dynamic performance as Yelena Belova and Natasha Romanoff, and supporting actors David Harbour (Red Guardian/Alexei Shostakov) and Rachel Weisz (Melina Vostokoff) brought their all to the story as well. The film also features O-T Fagbenle (Rick Mason), Ray Winstone (unspecified), and William Hurt (General Ross). Harbour provides much-needed levity with his humor for a rather dark story, and Weisz has been expertly set up for a successful launch into the MCU… but more on that in another post. Overall, we loved the movie and can’t wait to see what YOU think of Black Widow when it premieres in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access on July 9th.
I want to share a CONTENT WARNING for Black Widow. The film does discuss and depict topics including manipulation and child endangerment. Though we knew Marvel would be giving insight into Natasha’s past, there is no denying she has been through extremely traumatic experiences. Some fans may find these moments too difficult to view, so please use your discretion regarding your ability to witness traumatic events and discussions on screen.

“Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. Joining Johansson in the new feature film are Florence Pugh as Yelena, David Harbour as Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz as Melina. “Black Widow”—the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige.”
