The Rivers of America will soon reopen at the Magic Kingdom! For months, the water has been drained due to construction work on the river bed.
Along with the river being drained, the Liberty Belle Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island have been closed for refurbishment.
We recently visited Magic Kingdom to take a look at the construction’s progress. Disney is refilling the water and it’s great to see the Rivers of America restored to its former glory!
In prior weeks, guests could see crews working on the river bed and providing maintenance to the boat track. New concrete posts and track pieces could be seen, too.
Obviously the Liberty Square Riverboat is not functional at this time. Both Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat are included on the refurbishment schedule.
A February reopening date has been announced for the Liberty Square Riverboat, so it should reopen for guests to ride within the next month. The current refurbishment will help make Magic Kingdom magical for the 50th anniversary!
