Disney Pulls ‘Free Guy’ and ‘Death on the Nile’ from December 2020 Theatrical Release Schedule. It’s been a rough year for moviegoers and it seems 2020 is unlikely to get any more major movie title releases in theaters. Disney has pushed back major titles such as Marvel Studios’ Black Widow, 20th Century Studios‘ West Side Story, and even moved the premieres of ‘Mulan‘ (2020) and Disney-Pixar’s Soul straight to Disney+.
On Thursday, Disney announced both 20th Century Studios’ Free Guy, starring Ryan Reynolds, and star studded film ‘Death on the Nile‘ will not premiere in 2020 as previously announced. No alternative dates have been announced at the time of writing.
Death on the Nile takes place on a luxurious cruise on the Nile River, a wealthy heiress, Linnet Ridgeway (Lois Chiles), is murdered. Fortunately, among the passengers are famed Belgian detective Hercule Poirot (Peter Ustinov) and his trusted companion, Colonel Race (David Niven), who immediately begin their investigation. But just as Poirot identifies a motley collection of would-be murderers, several of the suspects also meet their demise, which only deepens the mystery of the killer’s identity.
Ryan Reynold’s Free Guy tells the story of Guy, a bank teller discovers that he’s actually an NPC inside a brutal, open world video game called Free City that will soon go offline.
