Big news for Florida’s theme park industry! Today, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announces that Florida is moving into full Phase 3 of its reopening.
The latest update means theme parks such as Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort are allowed to increase capacity.
With Florida beginning its “Phase 3” reopening, here’s what the state says about theme parks:

DeSantis supports those parks in the easing up of COVID-19 capacity restrictions as cases in the state appear to be declining. He made his remarks after applauding their health and safety measures of Orlando’s theme parks. Furthermore, it helps knowing that health officials acknowledge that the parks have not been hot spots for spreading the coronavirus.
The news indicates we may hear further announcements regarding theme park reservations and capacity sizes for guests. We’ll wait to see how Florida theme parks respond to the latest changes.
The news arrives today after Governor DeSantis lifted restrictions on Florida restaurants. This leads us to believe more Disney theme park and resort restaurants might reopen soon. A few Disney World restaurants, such as Crystal Palace, have yet to reopen to guests. Even Epcot has several dining location still closed. So, we might hear of more restaurant announcements in the next few weeks! Hopefully, guests can get some new reservations soon.
Phase 3 also states that bars, pubs and nightclubs that derive more than 50 percent of sales from alcohol should operate at full capacity with limited social distancing protocols
