Marvel Studios’ ‘Black Widow‘ Release Pushed Back to 2021. Though Disney and Marvel Studios have yet to confirm at the time of writing, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Marvel Studios is planning to shift the theatrical release date of Black Widow from November 6, 2020 to May 7, 2021 in place of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Shang-Chi will reportedly be moving to July 9, 2021, while Marvel’s Eternals will also be shifting to a to-be-determined date.
The news of Black Widow’s premiere change is far from surprising at this point, but likely, Disney and Marvel can not take the financial risk of the film bombing at the box office due to low and strict audience limits due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“At birth the Black Widow (aka Natasha Romanova) is given to the KGB, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative. When the U.S.S.R. breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action moves to present-day New York, where she is a freelance operative.”
Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Rachel Weisz (Melina Vostokoff), David Harbour (Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian) and O-T Fagbenle (Mason). Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Marvel!
