The NBA season may be concluding at Disney, but it looks like sports fans can expect more basketball action! There’s currently discussion to bring college basketball events to Disney World property.
According to team sources, ESPN is planning to move at least eight of its men’s college basketball events to Orlando. These events would go to the ESPN Wide World of Sports property at Walt Disney World in Florida.
ESPN runs 10 nonconference events in November and December. At least eight of them are expected to take place in Orlando this year. The Champions Classic, Charleston Classic, Myrtle Beach Invitational, NIT Season Tip-Off, Wooden Legacy, Orlando Invitational, Jimmy V Classic and Diamond Head Classic are expected to move to Disney.
The ESPN Wide World of Sports has been the site of the NBA’s bubble, but different protocols are expected to be in place for college events.
The events could begin as early as November 25, which is the new start date of 2020-2021 college basketball season.
It’s an interesting development with how the ESPN Wide World of Sports is gaining new sports events this year. What do sports fans think of this potential college game concepts? Would you like to see college basketball events held on Disney property?
