Confirmed: Eddie Redmayne Confirms ‘Fantastic Beast 3‘ Has Begun Filming. Back in August it was announced that filming would begin for the third Fantastic Beasts film sometime in September, and according to the films lead actor, Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), the film is actively in production and shared insight on the new “normal” on set. Sharing new details on the health and safety precautions the studio has in place due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Redmayne also praised his fellow cast mates and crew working on the film for their ability to still maintain a creative, magical environment on set despite the new procedures.

“It’s interesting because we’ve started shooting now,” Redmayne shared with CinemaBlend, “It’s a whole new normal. [COVID] Testing frequently, masks. And I wondered, actually, whether the masks would affect creativity, in some ways. Maybe that was a bit ignorant, but I just thought, as humans, do we need interaction to spark from each other. What is really reassuring is that it is a different process, but it still feels like it’s fizzing and that everyone is working at the top of their game.”

The third installment of the Fantastic Beasts franchise will see the return of Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore, Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterson as Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Ezra Miller as Credence Barebone/Aurelies Dumbledore, and Jessica Williams as Eulalie Hicks. No other casting choices have been announced for the new title.

The currently untitled Fantastic Beasts 3 is currently scheduled for a theatrical release November 21, 2021, but is subject to change.
