More information has been released about Disney’s newest cruise ship – the Disney Wish!
Disney Cruise Line has three new ships coming soon and guests are eagerly awaiting the details. The name of DCL’s fifth ship, the Disney Wish, was announced recently and now there’s a brand-new video that highlights more details about the name choice, the inspiration for the design of the ship, and which character will adorn the ship’s stern. Watch here:
The Disney Wish will be delivered in late 2021 and is expected to sail in January 2022.
The Disney Parks Experiences and Products Chairman, Bob Chapek, said, “There couldn’t be a better name for our incredible new ship because making wishes come true is part of the Disney DNA and is at the heart of so many of our cherished stories.”
Stern characters are a very important part of Disney Cruise Line’s history. Each ship has a certain character on the stern that reflects the theme. The Disney Wish will feature Rapunzel because she is spirited, smart, curious, and most importantly – adventurous! According to Disney, Rapunzel embodies everything that a wish is and reflects the desire to see and experience the world.
All three of Disney Cruise Line’s newest ships will be powered by liquified natural gas and weigh 144,000 gross tons. With 1,250 staterooms, they will be larger than the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy.
