Disney Legend Julie Andrews Receives Lifetime Achievement Award. Julie Andrews was recognized at the 76th Venice Film Festival for her long and iconic career in cinema.
Dame Julie Andrews has graced the silver screen for decades in nearly 50 credited films, with her most iconic roles coming from films such as Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, Princess Diaries 1 and Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Wedding. Andrews has also used her vocal talents to voice several characters in animated films from the 2000’s. Julie can be heard as Fiona’s Mother in the Shrek Films, Gru’s Mom in the Despicable Me Trilogy, and even as a narrator in Disney’s Enchanted.
The Disney Legend gave a heartfelt acceptance speech during the award ceremony in Venice, Italy.
“I consider myself so blessed to have spent a large part of my professional life in the cinema arts,” she said, “I still marvel at the fact that I was the lucky girl who was asked to play those wonderful roles.”
After finishing her speech the audience broke into a large round of applause for the Oscar Winning Actress as she kissed her lifetime achievement award from the 76th Venice Film Festival.
Congratulations to Dame Julie Andrews on her lifetime achievement award! We are excited to see what other films she will be a part of in the future, particularly Princess Diaries 3, confirmed by Anne Hathaway to be in early production.
