We have some Supercalifragilisticexpialidocios news! Dick Van Dike made a surprise appearance to help deliver some exciting news at the D23 Expo in California this week: A new Mary Poppins Attraction is coming to Epcot!
In speaking of Mary Poppins he said “What made it was Uncle Walt. He was a creative genius.“-Van Dike Mary Poppins will be making her way to Cherry Tree Lane which will be built in Walt Disney World ‘s Epcot United Kingdom Pavilion. It is the first Mary Poppins attraction in Disney. “First of all, I would like to make one thing clear: I never explain anything.” This seems to hold true for now in Mary Poppin’s style, as not much information has been released on this coming attraction. Will it be a ride or a walk through experience? We are not sure yet but will keep you updated as soon as we find out!
“We’re on the brink of adventure children. Don’t spoil it with questions.” But Oh I know you have so many questions, as do I! So here is what we do know… this cherished Disney classic film that was originally released in 1964, will be coming to life and giving us the chance to walk down the streets of London. Disney is building an entirely new neighborhood for this attraction; “a whole world at your feet”. Admiral Boom’s house will certainly be at attention and the “practically perfect in every way” home of the Banks family, at 17 Cherry Tree Lane will be your starting point for this new experience. It is said that there will be a large musical element in this new attraction, as is in the beloved film, that will certainly be having you “step in time!” As Mary would say, ” Can you imagine that?”
Check back with Chip and Company for more details when they are released! No opening date is set yet but it should be completed by the Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.
