A Disneyland security checkpoint is closing as construction on the new hotel begins. Some parking lots will be closing as well and pedestrians may need to change their routes.
The fourth Disneyland hotel construction is set to begin next month. That construction will impact security checkpoints, pedestrian walkways and parking. The 700-room hotel is set to open in 2021 and anchor a new gateway to the resort at the west end of Downtown Disney.
Beginning on July 2nd, the security checkpoint between ESPN Zone and Rainforest Café will be closing. All pedestrians will gain access to Downtown Disney via the security checkpoint between Earl of Sandwich and ESPN Zone. And those guests parking in the Mickey & Friends parking structure or staying at the hotels along Ball Rd and choosing to walk to Downtown Disney should use the sidewalks along Magic Way and Downtown Drive. Disney will be providing signage to help guests find their way.
Parking changes will be happening too. As of July 9th, the Simba Lot is becoming the main parking for Downtown Disney Guests. The entrance to this lot is on Disneyland Drive, between Katella Ave. and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.
Also on July 9th, the current parking off of Magic Way will be closing to guests and the Lilo and Stitch lots will be used for construction support. The pedestrian entrance onMagic Way will remain open and provide access to Downtown Disney for guests walking from the Mickey & Friends parking structure.
If you plan on visiting the Disneyland Resort in the upcoming months please make sure you check back and make a note of any other changes that are happening as construction on the new hotel moves forward. We will keep our Chip and Co readers as up to date as possible!
