As we reported earlier this year, Disney is partnering up with Origis Energy USA to construct a new Solar Farm located near to Animal Kingdom theme park. This colossal 270-acre facility will supply 50-megawatts which is enough to power two theme parks.
Our very own Chip was in the area this week and managed to snag the following photos of the project:
You can clearly see construction vehicles and a work site in the area.
Here’s another vantage point of the expanded area that will contain the solar panels.
You can see additional work being carried out on the left-hand side of this image.
This is what the completed solar panels look like when erected.
This new facility will combine with already existing solar farms including the Hidden Mickey-shaped panels located near Epcot. Combined, this will allow the solar farms to collectively produce up to 25% of the power need to run Walt Disney World.
This is part of The Walt Disney Company’s longstanding commitment to reduce greenhouse gases across its Orlando properties.
Readers are encouraged to keep following along with Chip and Co. for the latest in Walt Disney World news and updates.
