If you lose an item on your next Walt Disney World vacation, make sure to claim it no longer than 30 days after you lost it! Previously, items lost at Walt Disney World were kept for 90 days. However, a new bill was passed in Florida that stated Theme Parks now can donate those times after 30 days.
As you can imagine, several items go missing at Walt Disney World Resort daily. Disney has a process in place to help get those lost items back to their owner. Back in 2014, Disney Guest Relations Director, Keith Gossett, told WFTV how lost items are organized:
“They are color-coded with dots which identify which park it was found in and that day. Also, we incorporate the date on the glasses, and then we sort them here, and wait for the calls from our guests to locate them. Glasses, hats, visors, those are some of our most popular items.”
“We have probably over 250,000 that go beyond our 90-day claim period and are then offered up to charitable organizations.”
Another change introduced in the bill states that lost items will now go to needy families and non-profit organizations. Previously, these items went to Orlando-area Sheriff Departments. These changes will save taxpayers indefinite amounts of money.
