From Sand to Rocks: Changes to Grand Floridian Shoreline

Shoreline

The Grand Floridian’s pristine shoreline has recently undergone a change from sand to rocks.  While change is always imminent, this particular change is significant; yet unspoken.  The rocks are bordered by safety fencing, thus separating the white sand beach from the rocks.

The coloring of the rocks is in a variety of beige washed-sand hues.  The rocks blend well with the landscape.  Across the Seven Seas Lagoon you can see the same shoreline changes, from sand to rocks, at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

This is the look of Disney’s Grand Floridian shoreline today.  The newer rocks begin where the darker pre-existing rocks end.  The transition from sand to rocks, along waterways, is a trend we will see at the Walt Disney World Resort for many years to come.
