Disney has ‘Ambitious’ Theme Park Plans for ‘Star Wars’

Fueling the excitement among both Star Wars and Disney fans alike are some recent comments made by Disney chief Bob Iger hinting that there are ‘ambitious plans’ for Star Wars within its theme parks.

While speaking with Wall Street analysts, Iger revealed that Disney is currently working on “a fair amount of design and development (taking place by the company’s Imagineers) to greatly increase Star Wars presence in multiple locations around the world.”

What we already know from previous comments made by Iger is that whatever new attractions are announced will be based on future films in the series, as well as its spinoffs and not the old films. For now, however, Iger said specific plans would be announced “later in 2015,” and for the hard-core fans that announcement cannot come soon enough. With the current release date for Star Wars: The Force Awakens set for December 2015, it would seem that the increase in Star Wars presence in the parks is not so far, far away.

  1. Well, it makes a lot of sense that this will be to tie into future films, but not sure I agree with any possible exclusion of the original trilogy. No Vader? That doesn’t make sense.
