Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Gets a Small but Official Name Change
Disney’s newest Disney Vacation Club resort is getting a tiny name tweak, but this one comes with some official paperwork behind it. Disney has filed a trademark application for “Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge,” adding the possessive to the name previously used for the upcoming Walt Disney World resort.

The trademark application was filed on August 11 and covers restaurant services, resort lodging services and hotel accommodation services. The application is still pending approval, but Disney has already started using Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge in recently released concept art and other official materials.
It may only be the addition of an apostrophe and an “s,” but the change brings the resort’s name more in line with other Walt Disney World hotels, including Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
The resort itself has a much longer history than its latest name change. The site was originally planned for Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge, a nature-inspired resort announced before the project was put on hold following the 2020 closure of Walt Disney World. Disney later revived plans for the property as Lakeshore Lodge, carrying forward elements of the earlier concept.

Construction is continuing on Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge as Disney prepares to add another Disney Vacation Club destination to the Walt Disney World lineup. One little apostrophe later, the resort’s branding appears to be settling into place.
