Oct 16th construction will start on 2 Marriott hotels in a new development that is just west of Disney World. There will be a SpringHill Suites and a TownePlace Suites coming to Disney’s Flamingo Crossings, located on the corner of State Road 429 and Western Way.
Flamingo Crossings is the fun-filled, value-oriented, themed tourist district being developed directly outside the western gateway to Walt Disney World® Resort. Orlando entertains millions of driving tourists a year. And the new Western Beltway, off the Florida Turnpike, will bring a flock of them right to Flamingo Crossings, master planned by Walt Disney Imagineering.
Each new hotel will each have 250 rooms and will create as many as 170 new jobs.

With all these hotels that are opening “outside” of WDW it is starting to be reminiscent of the very thing Walt wanted to get away from at Disneyland in Anaheim, the over abundance of hotels building around the park that cheapened the experience. It doesn’t matter that they are high end or not, it really is about positioning themselves to “get on board the ride” I really hope the current Disney Execs don’t let greed over take the very essence of what Walt envisioned for WDW.
