The Walt Disney World Resort in Florida has received another top honor, its Magic Kingdom park is the most visited theme park in the world! To celebrate Disney raised their ticket prices! Woohoo!
The Themed Entertainment Association has released a report stating that more than 17.5 million people visited the Magic Kingdom theme park last year, which was up 2.3% from the year before. The Themed Entertainment Assoication also reported that all four theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort saw an increase in attendance from 2011.
One of Disney’s other theme parks, Disney’s California Adventure park, in Anaheim saw a 22.6% increase in attendance, thanks primarily to the new Cars Land expansion. Disney’s other California theme park, Disneyland, experienced a 1.1% decrease in attendance last year. However, even with the decreased attendance, the Disneyland theme park still took second to the Magic Kingdom, with almost 16 million visitors in 2011.
Both of the Tokyo Disney theme parks took third and fourth place in the Themed Entertainment Association’s report. Each park, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea, experienced an 8.5% increase in theme park attendance from the previous year.
