Over the weekend, we told you that three of the most popular Disneyland attractions had been suddenly shut down due to OSHA citations. Well, although one has been re-opened, but the other two are still closed. The Matterhorn Bobsleds, Space Mountain, and Soarin’ Over California were closed due to failure to meet the state requirement of harnessed fall protection for any employee walkway with more than a 30 inch drop opposite a hand rail. The Matterhorn was able to re-open on Monday, but the other two are still closed indefinitely.
The citations began with an incident in November when a cast member was injured while doing maintenance on Space Mountain. According to California OSHA, Disneyland did not adequately correct “known fall hazards” that existed on the exterior of Space Mountain. A Disneyland spokesperson says they closed the rides out of caution. It is still unclear when these two major rides will re-open.
“We constantly strive to maintain a safe work environment for our cast members and contractors — and we are reviewing certain protocols,” a Disneyland spokesperson reported.

Big Thunder Mountain is closed due to refurbishment right now which makes the park down one more major attraction.

OSHA did not close the attractions. Disneyland closed them based on the report.
