Trusted Disney insider Jim Hill has suggested that future plans for the further development of the theme park may include a home for Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde and friends with the introduction of a Zootopia Land.
So how would this new land be squeezed into an already massive park? The suggestion is that Rafiki’s Planet Watch would be re-purposed drawing larger crowds to this often overlooked area of the theme park. This area of Animal Kingdom is currently only accessible via railroad which would be perfectly in keeping with Zootopia’s storyline where Judy arrives to the bustling animal metropolis in the same way.
If the rumors do prove to be true Zootopia would join the ranks of other exciting expansions happening at Walt Disney World in the years to come which includes Star Wars and Toy Story themed areas at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well as a projected expansion and re-imagining of key areas at Disney’s Epcot theme park.
As of now it remains just a rumor but with D23 just around the corner, it will be interesting to see if Disney executives can shed any light on this possible new development.
