You Won't Find These Titles on Disney+ Come Launch Day

You Won’t Find These Titles on Disney+ Come Launch Day. Though the list seems to grow and grow for Disney+ there are still some key titles missing from the impressive lineup. Here is a much smaller list of titles you won’t see on Disney+ launch day, but don’t worry, they should be added soon!

1.) Disney Live-Action Remakes

Some titles will be available, such as Pete’s Dragon, but other live-action films such as Maleficent, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and The Jungle Book will not be available to stream on launch day. Disney has promised the “entire” library of Disney films will become available on Disney+, so more than likely these titles will be added at a later date.

2.) Cool Runnings

Cool Runnings is currently streaming on Cinemax, which would explain why it will not be available on Disney+ initially, but once the contract is up with Cinemax, we could easily see Cool Runnings added to Disney+! Cool Runnings is about Four Jamaican bobsledders who dream of competing in the Winter Olympics, despite never having seen snow. With the help of a disgraced former champion (John Candy) desperate to redeem himself, the Jamaicans set out with their new coach to become worthy of Olympic selection, and go all out for glory.

3.) National Treasure

Another film currently under streaming contract, is National Treasure. The film is currently streaming on Netflix, but once the contract ends, we should see the film added shortly. You can still find National Treasure: Book of Secrets on Disney+ come launch day.

4.) The Mighty Ducks

The Mighty Ducks, D2: The Mighty Ducks, and D3: The Mighty Ducks are currently streaming on HBO, once they are done streaming on the popular television network we should see them join the roster on Disney+. Also on HBO is Disney Channel Original Movie, Sky High, which will more than likely not be airing on Disney+ right away.

5.) Star Wars Films

Don’t let this listing name scare you! MOST of the Star Wars films will be available to stream, but a few titles will not be available immediately. Both Solo: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: The Last Jedi are currently streaming on Netflix. Much like the other films on Netflix, these Star Wars films should be added to Disney+ after their contracts expire.

6.) X-Men, Deadpool, and Fox Films

Disney previously shared Rated-R content would not be permitted on Disney+ which leaves Fox Films such as Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Logan out of the running to be added to Disney+. The other X-Men movies may make the move to Disney+ some day, but with the acquisition of Fox by Disney, it could be some time before the films are fully integrated into the Disney library. As for other Fox titles, there has been no official word if they will be added to Disney+ at a later date.

7.) Marvel Studios Films

Again, don’t let this segment name scare you. MOST of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be available on Disney+ launch day, but titles such as Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and The Wasp, and Thor: Ragnarok will not be available right away. Once their streaming contracts are up with Netflix, these titles should be added to the MCU library on Disney+. In not as great news, it appears Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home are looking doubtful to join the Disney+ roster. Though associated with the MCU, the films were actually created by Sony Pictures and will likely not be allowed to stream on Disney+. Disney has also announced Avengers: Endgame will be available on Disney+ starting in December.

8.) Newly Released Films

Captain Marvel and Dumbo (2019) are currently the only 2019 titles that will be available to stream on Disney+, from the looks of it new Disney titles will be available on Disney+ roughly seven months after premiering in theaters. Beginning in 2020 we should see titles such as Toy Story 4, The Lion King, Aladdin, and Frozen II added to the Disney+ library.
