Movie director Wolfgang Petersen has passed away at age 81. He is famously known for The NeverEnding Story, Das Boot, and many other films.
The news was shared on Twitter and confirmed by his production company.

Wolfgang Petersen’s first film in Hollywood was the 1984 fantasy adventure “The NeverEnding Story,” which he directed and co-scripted. The story centered on a boy in our reality and the kingdom of Fantasia, which exists in a storybook.
Over five decades Mr. Petersen toggled between his native Germany and the United States, directing 29 films in both countries. Other notable works of his include Troy, The Perfect Storm, and Air Force One.
