For starters, actress Tatiana Maslany plays Jennifer Walters, who happens to be the cousin of Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). The first episode offers a crash course on Hulk’s cousin and showcases the comedic nature of the show.

It may be a surprising concept to some viewers, but the show is actually a comedy series for the MCU. Being a lifelong comic reader, I can say the show truly does capture the spirit of She-Hulk’s comic book history. If you want a point of reference, I’d say it mirrors the kind of characterization and She-Hulk comic stories we’ve seem from Marvel writers such as Dan Slott and John Bryne.

Also, the TV show offers a refreshing viewer experience. Instead of a world-ending scenario, we are watching a light-hearted story unfold. Jennifer Walters frequently breaks the fourth wall by poking fun at the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s really no different from how Deadpool hilariously cracks jokes aimed directly at viewers. Besides the humor, the story does introduce new characters and a few familiar faces. We won’t specify who, but you’ll want to see what happens next!

In all honestly, we thoroughly enjoyed the new MCU show. The actors have wonderful chemistry and it’s great to see a different kind of hero story. Tatiana Maslany excels in her role and brings a great level of energy with her as the new ”Hulk” in town. It is quite entertaining to see a superhero show this unique!

Streaming exclusively on Disney+ beginning August 18, the new comedy series stars Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk/Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who specializes in superhuman-oriented legal cases.

Directed by Kat Coiro (Episodes 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9) and Anu Valia (Episodes 5, 6, 7) with Jessica Gao as head writer, “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” follows Jennifer Walters as she navigates the complicated life of a single, 30-something attorney who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk. The nine-episode series welcomes a host of MCU vets, including Mark Ruffalo as Smart Hulk, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/the Abomination, and Benedict Wong as Wong. The cast also includes Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Jameela Jamil, Jon Bass and Renée Elise Goldsberry. Executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Kat Coiro and Jessica Gao. Co-executive producers are Wendy Jacobson and Jennifer Booth.
