Will Marvel Studios’ ‘Secret Invasion’ Series Include ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Characters? Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Alumni Elizabeth Henstridge has teased that she may be reprising her role as Jemma Simmons for an upcoming Marvel project after being asked by a fan in a comment on one of her Instagram posts.
In her post, Henstridge shared that she will be travelling soon to England after she just closed on a home with her long-term partner Zachary Abel in Atlanta, GA. Though Liz is originally from Sheffield, England and very likely could be visiting friends or family, it seems rather odd the actress would be making such a quick jump across the pond before moving from their home in LA to their new house in Georgia unless it is for a very good reason.

Coincidently, several Marvel projects just so happen to be filming in England at the moment, including the new series ‘Secret Invasion‘ which will likely have the closest connections to Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series. Another hint comes from Elizabeth’s Marvel co-star Chloe Bennet who just left a leading role as Blossom in The Powerpuff Girls live-action series due to “scheduling conflicts.” This is complete speculation at the moment, but there seems to be something very important happening for both A.o.S. actresses to put aside important milestones in their lives and careers, giving creadence to the idea that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. characters may be making an appearance in ‘Secret Invasion.’
This theory is not ours alone, several fans have made comments on recent posts from the pair asking if they will be reprising their respective roles to which Henstridge had replied with a simply emoji that has fans in a tizzy! (See screenshot below):

In the Marvel Comics the Secret Invasion storyline involves a subversive, long-term invasion of Earth by the Skrulls, a group of alien shapeshifters who have secretly replaced many superheroes in the Marvel Universe with impostors over a period of years, prior to the overt invasion.
Though Marvel has not released an official synopsis for the new Marvel live-action series, there is no reason to believe the studio will deviate from the original premise, though the details and character identities may be switch around. Currently the series cast includes Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Ben Mendelsohn (Talos), with Christopher McDonald, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Killian Scott in unspecified roles for the series.
