Walt Disney Pictures has just shared the first of many (we hope) pictures of their upcoming new film, The Jungle Book. This picture above gives us a look at Mowgli and the impressive and massive, Bagheera,
Walt Disney Pictures and Filmmaker / Actor Jon Favreau have been hard at work bringing us a new version of the classic Rudyard Kipling adventure. This time around, the live-action Jungle Book adaptation in theatres next October 9, 2015, gives us a different look at one of my favorite Disney movies. Favreau shared in an interview that the remake is going to incorporate the use of modern “storytelling techniques and technology” which will give the film a new look.
The original Disney animated film first released in 1967 is a classic and although there was a live action film, it did not have the technological advances, which will make this version unique. Add the following stars into the mix – Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, Christopher Walken is King Louie, Bill Murray as Baloo, Lupita Nyong’o is Rakcha, Ben Kingsley, the perfect Bagheera, and young, Neel Sethi as Mowgli and we have another Disney megahit coming our way.
On a side note – Warner Brothers Studios is also working on a different version of The Jungle Book movie – . Jungle Book: Origins but has now changed their theatre release date to October 6, 2017. Warner Brothers film will be directed by Andy Serkis and also has an incredible cast lined up including Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Naomie Harris. I like the idea of two different versions of The Jungle Book and am looking forward to see how each one brings Mowgli and his adventures to the screen.
