New Construction Permit Filed for Disney’s Polynesian Island Tower
Something new may be in the works at Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new Notice of Commencement for construction work at the recently opened Disney Vacation Club tower, with Faden Builders listed as the contractor and the scope described simply as general construction.

Disney has not announced any upcoming additions or changes for Island Tower, so for now exactly what the permit covers remains a mystery. The filing is notable, however, because it comes directly from Walt Disney Imagineering rather than being listed as routine maintenance work. Island Tower opened in December 2024 on the former site of the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at Luau Cove, adding Duo Studios, Deluxe Studios, one- and two-bedroom villas, and the first two-bedroom penthouse villas in the Disney Vacation Club lineup.

The 10-story tower also brought several new amenities to the Polynesian, including Wailulu Bar & Grill, Cove Pool, and Moana’s Voyage splash area.
