Guest Falls into Water at EPCOT’s Living With the Land Ride While Chasing Dropped Phone
It was anything but a smooth cruise through the greenhouse this weekend at EPCOT, as a guest on Living With the Land turned a relaxing boat ride into a soggy spectacle. A now-viral TikTok video posted by @sunshinesoulco_florida shows the moment after the guest fell into the ride’s water while trying to retrieve a dropped phone—and yes, it’s as chaotic as it sounds.

According to witnesses, the guest exited the boat mid-ride without Cast Member assistance and plunged into the shallow canal in an effort to grab their phone. The clip shows the individual scrambling out of the water, running alongside the greenhouse’s ledge (right through the restricted sand, no less), and climbing back into a different boat. In the comments, another TikTok user claimed to have been on the same boat and said the guest bolted toward the restroom after disembarking—oddly enough, without being immediately stopped by Disney security.
While this isn’t the first time a guest has gone rogue at Walt Disney World, it’s a dangerous reminder of why exiting a moving ride vehicle is strictly prohibited. Rides like Living With the Land have underwater tracks and hidden mechanical systems that pose a serious safety risk. Not to mention, stomping through active ride scenes can result in lifelong bans from Disney property—a steep price for a waterlogged smartphone.

Disney Cast Members are trained to help guests recover lost items safely. If you drop something during a ride, always report it at the unload station or speak to a Cast Member. Jumping into restricted ride areas might get your phone back—but it could cost you your park privileges, or worse, your safety.
So let this be a cautionary tale: keep your hands, arms, feet, legs, and phones inside the boat at all times.
