Heroic Vacation: Doctor Saves Teen’s Life at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
A family trip to Walt Disney World turned into a real-life rescue mission for one Florida doctor — and thanks to his quick thinking, a teenage girl is alive today.
According to reporting by WESH, Dr. Jeffery Schiappa was on vacation with his family at Disney’s Hollywood Studios when something far more urgent than a theme park thrill caught his attention. While rushing toward a ride, he noticed a group of visibly distressed girls and quickly realized that a 17-year-old had collapsed and was unresponsive.

Without hesitation, Dr. Schiappa jumped into action and began performing chest compressions. His son ran to retrieve an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), which proved to be crucial — the teen had to be shocked twice before she regained consciousness.
Emergency medical teams soon arrived and transported the girl to the hospital. She reportedly required resuscitation two more times en route and a third time in the emergency room. Doctors later diagnosed her with a life-threatening heart condition and implanted a pacemaker to stabilize her condition.

This harrowing event, which took place at the Most Magical Place on Earth, reminds us all that real heroes don’t wear capes — sometimes they wear MagicBands and carry AEDs.
Thanks to Dr. Schiappa’s life-saving intervention and the swift response of emergency crews, the teen is now recovering from what could’ve been a tragic end. We’re sending all the pixie dust her way for a strong recovery.
