A verdict has been reached in the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard from Fairfax, Virginia.
Due to previously scheduled work commitments made before the trial, Johnny Depp will not be on-hand for the reading of the verdict which occurred at 3 pm EST.
Depp sued Heard for $50 million over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in December of 2018. In the piece, the actress wrote about surviving domestic abuse without identifying her alleged abuser by name. In response, Heard filed a $100 million countersuit against Depp.

The jury has just unanimously sided in favor of Johnny Depp! Amber Heard calling Johnny Depp a sexual abuser was in fact defamation.
The jury further found Heard’s accusations in the Washington Post Op-Ed article was in fact malicious.
The jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. Heard was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages and no punitive damages.
